Jerod H. Killick & Johnny Killick

Fine Art Photography

(All photography on this site is by the authors;H.Opsal is also known as Jerod H. Killick)

Jerod H. Killick is a photographer, writer, living in Southeast Alaska.  His writing explores the darkness of the human experience, acknowledging both the shadows and light in human thought and emotion.

Johnny Killick lives in Vancouver Canada and works as an editor for a news wire company.  He spends the majority of his off time searching for the macro images that he can manipulate digitally for the best artistic impression.

Jerod and Johnny work both in analog and digital medium.  Jerod finds his heart knee deep in developer and silver nitrate most of the time!  Photography is a living and breathing art.  Like the impressionists, photographers capture the light of the changing day.  One “frames it up,” looking for the best scene in consideration of the mood.  It is the “proximal,” or approximation/interpretation, of the world around, interpreted by the artist’s eye, a revealing and individual experience.

Johnny on the other hand finds that the power of digital manipulation gives him the freedom to express his full artistic potential.  You will find both Jerod and Johnny’s work in the available pages.  The styles are both divergent and convergent, harmonizing like the best of any marriage of two worlds of artistic expression.

Welcome the proximal -- an artists view of the world

“Painting {photography} has taught me to reject time’s frenetic wheel.  Painting lives outside time.  I am trying to attain the secret of painting’s quietude.”
